Russell Dekker

Russell Dekker is a Partner of Cat Trail, a single family office with an emphasis on valuation and diversification which actively manages its publicly traded positions, funds, and private placements. Russell serves on Cat Trail’s investment committee and actively focuses on the healthcare investments including private equity holdings and opportunities in the space.

Before Cat Trail, Russell was Chief Publishing Officer and co-owner of Marcel Dekker, Inc., an international scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publisher. In January, 2004, Dekker sold its publishing assets to the Taylor & Francis Group (now part of Informa plc). During Russell’s 15 years with Dekker, he rapidly expanded all the company’s product lines through its publishing and sales activities, including its numerous book, journal, and encyclopedia programs.

While at Dekker, Russell founded and served as Managing Director of Summit Communications, the first portfolio company for Cat Trail. Summit was a medical education company that delivered evidence-based informational products to physicians and medical professionals with the support of educational grants.

Russell serves as the Managing Trustee of the Dekker Foundation which philanthropically supports programs in healthcare, environmental conservation, and community empowerment. Russell also serves as the Chair of the New York tri-state region for the American Committee of the Weizmann Institute of Science (ACWIS), as well as on the ACWIS Executive Board.

Russell received a BA degree cum laude with high honors from Hobart College in 1990 and an MA degree from New York University in 1994.
