Russell DekkerpartnerRussell Dekker is a Partner at Cat Trail Capital, LLC, and serves as Managing Director of Summit Communications, LLC, the first portfolio company for Cat Trail. Summit is a medical publishing company that delivers evidence-based informational products to physicians and medical professionals with the support of educational grants (www.summitcom.com). Russell also serves as The Managing Trustee of the Dekker Foundation, overseeing its educational and publishing programs, and also serves on the advisory boards of other not-for-profit entities. Previously, Russell was Chief Publishing Officer and co-owner of Marcel Dekker, Inc. (Dekker), an international scientific, technical, and medical (STM) publisher. In January, 2004, Dekker sold its publishing assets to the Taylor & Francis Group (now part of Informa plc). During Russell’s 15 years with Dekker, he grew the company through its publishing and sales activities, including its book, journal, and encyclopedia lines. In 2003, Dekker published 248 new book titles, 80 journals, and an ongoing encyclopedia program of 23 multi-volume titles. Dekker was one of the first publishers to make all of its content available online through both dekker.com and third party sites. During his tenure at Dekker, Russell established co-publishing and/or distribution arrangements with such entities as the New England Journal of Medicine and the American Academy of Clinical Toxicology to name just a few. Some original periodicals successfully launched under Russell’s leadership include Pharmaceutical Development and Technology, Journal of Biopharmaceutical Statistics, Journal of Cardiovascular Magnetic Resonance, Chronobiology International, Machining Science and Technology, International Journal of Green Energy, and COPD. Russell received a BA degree from Hobart College and an MA degree from New York University. |
