Pear Tree Pharmaceuticals

Pear Tree Pharmaceuticals is a private healthcare company focused on developing treatments for menopausal-related disorders. Pear Tree's initial focus is based upon proprietary technology to treat Atrophic Vaginitis, a hormone-dependent disease involving the lower urinary tract, genital tract, and pelvic floor. Atrophic Vaginitis occurs during or after menopause when a woman's body no longer produces significant amounts of estrogen. Symptoms include vaginal itching, burning, dryness, ulcers, overactive bladder, and urinary frequency. By developing novel locally delivered therapies for Atrophic Vaginitis, Cat Trail believes Pear Tree has the potential to serve a patient population that comprises a growing multi-billion dollar market.

Pear Tree's most clinically advanced product candidate, PT-100, is a fixed dose vaginal treatment for Atrophic Vaginitis intended to be manufactured in the form of a vaginal tablet. PT-100 delivers both progesterone and estriol directly to the vaginal tissue. Progesterone is commonly used by women undergoing hormone therapy to protect them from endometrial cancer, a known risk of estrogen replacement therapy. Estriol is an estrogen, based on initial research and clinical experience, which may be more efficacious and safer than other estrogens commonly used to treat Atrophic Vaginitis. The results of a recently completed physician-sponsored study indicate that PT-100 is safe and efficacious in normalizing vaginal function. Pear Tree is further investigating PT-100 via safety and efficacy study designs, pre-clinical studies, and optimizing its commercial formulation and manufacturing process.

The company's second product candidate, PT-101, is a fixed dose vaginal tablet for the treatment of Atrophic Vaginitis in women who have had a hysterectomy or are at high risk for breast cancer. PT-101 delivers tamoxifen, a well known selective estrogen receptor modulator ("SERM") directly to the vaginal tissue. Tamoxifen works like estrogen on the vaginal tissue to treat symptoms of Atrophic Vaginitis. At the same time, tamoxifen has been proven to block the effects of estrogen in breast cells preventing the growth of breast cancer in addition to reducing the risk of breast cancer in women who have a high risk of developing the disease. PT-101 delivers tamoxifen directly to the vagina, limiting systemic absorption, and should provide effective local treatment to the estrogen deprived vaginal tissues. Pear Tree is further investigating PT-101 via a proof of concept clinical trial that pursues safety and efficacy indications. If the results of the proof of concept study are successful, further PT-101clinical studies will be designed and initiated. The company will also optimize a commercial formulation and a manufacturing process, as well as commence necessary pre-clinical studies.

The Company's management team, board of directors, and scientific advisory board are experienced in drug development and knowledgeable about the markets and clinical protocols associated with Atrophic Vaginitis, as well as the commercialization requirements for successful pharmaceutical products.
